Bo He Tang (薄荷塘, Bòhétáng), the “mint pond”, is a small village tucked deep in the forests of the Yiwu tea mountains in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. Its tea is known for a soft, honeyed sweetness and a cool finish that seems to echo its name.
This cake comes from She Yi (奢益) Tea Group, which sources its leaf from its No. 38 old-tree garden at Bo He Tang. The sun-dried Yunnan large-leaf tea was picked in the spring of 2020 and pressed in November 2022. The cake’s wrapper carries a gold award from the Yun Pu Cup (云普杯) blind tasting, and the mark of a CCTV strategic partner brand.
Where many raw pu’er speak loudly, this one speaks softly. The cup is smooth and gentle, sweet from the first pour, with a clean, cooling finish that lingers.
Steep it slowly, and keep a cake aside to see how it grows with the years.
