How to read it

Each card describes a good, typical example of a place's tea. Most taste descriptions come from the tea trade and the press, and the cards say so. With Dragon Well, the picking and the pan matter as much as the place: an early, tender pick fired with a light hand gives a very different cup from a later pick fired high.

The flavour map

Each tea is placed from its profile: across, how high it is usually fired and how full it is (firing and body); up, how fresh and fragrant (freshness and aroma). It is a summary of descriptions, not a laboratory measurement.
